ATLANTA, GEORGIA – May 6, 2016 – Morehouse College Stamps Scholar Da’Von Boyd has been awarded a Beinecke Scholarship to further his graduate studies, starting Fall 2017. Established in 1971 in honor of Edwin, Frederick, and Walter Beinecke, the scholarship provides substantial financial awards to young men and women who show exceptional promise in the areas of humanities and social sciences.

Boyd is currently majoring in Political Science at Morehouse College and plans to pursue a PhD in political theory upon graduation. The Beinecke award will help alleviate the cost of graduate school, as well as provide funds for Boyd to attend conferences, colloquiums, and conduct research in his field.

Boyd is the first Stamps Scholar to be awarded a Beinecke Scholarship and joins other Stamps Scholars who have previously received nationally prestigious academic awards including the Fulbright, Gates Cambridge, Goldwater, Marshall, Rhodes, and Schwarzman Scholarships.
