Anticipated Graduation Year: 2014

Hometown: Alhambra, California

Field of Study: Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics & Business Economics

Looking at my first year at UCLA, I consider it a successful year in all aspects. I got on the Dean's Honors List and got involved in Phi Delta Epsilon Co-ed Pre-medical Fraternity, Care Extenders Internship, and TEACH (Together Educating & Advocating Community Health). I also experienced so many new things and met some of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Because of the Stamps Foundation Scholarship, I was able to make the most of my first year of college without being hindered by my financial situation, which I believe is the best thing I could have done with the scholarship.

Anticipated Graduation Year: Class of 2014

Hometown: Honolulu, Hawaii

Field of Study: Mathematics for Teaching

Activities/Hobbies: In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, watching movies, and playing my flute. My goal this year was to try one new thing every quarter in college: first quarter, I joined a club that taught tango, salsa, and cultural dances; second quarter, I played badminton every week with my friends from GOC, the Christian Fellowship that I’m in; third quarter, I had an amazing time playing in a pit orchestra for a musical at UCLA—I was in band all four years in high school, but this was the first time that I had ever played in a pit orchestra.

Something I did or plan to do because of the scholarship: I had a blast with the other three [UCLA] Stamps Scholars this February at the Stamps Convention in Florida. In the future, I hope to be able to study abroad.
