Class of 2014 student, Anthony Bruno, is originally from Berwyn, Illinois and currently studies Mechanical Engineering.

"At my high school, JS Morton West, I held various leadership positions in Mathletes, Class of 2010, and Italian Club over the course of the four years. So far, as an engineering freshmen at the University of Illinois, I've become involved with iEFX (Illinois Engineering Freshmen Experience) through the Outreach team and the Engineering and Service to Society: Energy and Earth team, Engineers Without Borders, and the Campus Honors and James Scholar Programs. In Engineers Without Borders, my team is currently working on a solar-powered cooker for several families in rural Mexico. I plan to continue my involvement with these organizations and to expand my engagement to other groups focused on service through energy research. Something Awesome: Through the Stamps scholarship, I have been given immeasurable opportunities and resources to learn and develop in a way that will allow me to pursue my dream of making a difference in the lives of others."

Sean Hansen, class of 2014, is from Des Plaines, Illinois's Maine West High School.

"I am currently pursuing a major in English, and am likely going to minor in Spanish. In college, I have taken up the study of Tae Kwon Do, as well as joining both Intervarsity and the Navigators, two Christian organizations on campus. I take private voice lessons and have recently begun learning ballroom dance. As hobbies, I read books and collect comics. In high school, I sang in the choir and performed in numerous plays and musicals, being selected to sing in the All-State Music Festival twice. Chipotle is my favorite fast-food restaurant. Thanks to the Stamps Scholarship, I have had the opportunity to meet over a hundred exceptionally intelligent and highly motivated students from across the country, some of whom I still stay in touch with. I hope to study abroad in England and Latin America in the future using the Stamps enrichment fund, and I plan on taking advantage of the education I am being provided by applying myself diligently to my studies with the ultimate goal of making the world a better place for my having been here."

Class of 2014's Janice Yoshimura hails from Glen Ellyn, Illinois. In high school, she was the president of the NHS and Model UN while also being the Captain and MVP of Varsity Badminton. At UIUC, she is the Treasurer for Illinois BioDeisel Initiative, a volunteer at Times Soup Kitchen, project manager for Whitsitt and Associates Consulting Project, consultant for Nanophase Technologies through Illinois Business Consulting, partner at Enterprise Consulting 360, and ambassador for Engineering Student Alumni Ambassadors.

"This scholarship is giving me the opportunity to study abroad in Taiwan at the National University of Taiwan during the Spring of 2012, something that would've been very difficult for me to accomplish otherwise."
