Description of activities: was an assistant editor on weekly magazine “The Declaration”, president of the University of Virginia Biology Society, presented undergrad research project at a national meeting (Society for Research on Biological Rhythms), presented original data at the 2007 American Cancer Society Mid-Atlantic Division meeting, completed an MS in cancer cell molecular signaling. Hobbies include horseback riding, cycling, and backpacking.
"Support from the Stamps Foundation will help me follow my dream of having a career doing translational research, teaching and practicing veterinary medicine. The opportunity to meet individuals in different fields and travel to national meetings is critical for developing a well-rounded academic researcher, and the Stamps Scholarship promotion of these opportunities will let me make the most of my graduate studies."

Description of activities: won several awards for presentations related to research conducted during graduate studies. Has served on several important committees including:
- Graduate Affairs Committee Member, Fall 2009-present, consists of Dean of Research, Heads of all College of Veterinary Medicine Departments, Faculty and student representatives
- 2011 College of Veterinary Medicine Research Symposium Planning Committee Member, organized various aspects of Research Symposium with Dean of Research and faculty, including abstract submission and poster selection/judging
- Hobbies include: playing ice hockey (as a goalie), going to VT sporting events, tinkering with Mustangs (four wheels, not four feet!), and visiting the river.
"This scholarship is enabling me to pursue a Ph.D. in the Graduate Program of the Veterinary School here at Virginia Tech. I hope to teach future professional students (DVM, MD, and the like) when I finish this program, as a chance to give back to the profession that has provided me with so many opportunities."
