Mary Driewer,
Notre Dame

Degree: B.S. in Information Technology Management & Data Analytics

How did the Stamps Scholarship help shape your undergraduate experience?
The Stamps Scholarship helped make my Notre Dame education possible. It also funded experiences I wouldn’t have had otherwise, such as white water rafting, guitar lessons, and a summer abroad in Toledo, Spain. I’ve been truly blessed by the gift of the Stamps Scholarship and the wonderful community it’s allowed me to become a part of.

Tell us a piece of wisdom you’ve learned over the past four years.
You can determine what a person values by examining how they spend their time. Time in college (and also life) is a precious commodity; there are only 24 hours in a day. I’ve learned that most people make time for what’s truly important to them. No matter how busy they may be, they always seem to make time for certain things. Identify what is important to you ‚Äì whether it’s family, friends, volunteering, your faith, your hobbies, whatever it may be ‚Äì and then commit to those things wholeheartedly. “For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” (Matthew 6:21)

Who has had the greatest impact on you throughout your college career and how so?
It’s impossible to narrow it down to just one person; everyone I’ve met at Notre Dame has had a profound impact on me. I’m indebted to my professors for the knowledge they’ve shared with me; I’ve benefitted from the wisdom that my mentors and advisors have imparted; and I’m so thankful for the friends that I’ve met in college. They’ve all challenged me to become the best version of myself and to continue striving for my dreams.

What’s your favorite Stamps Scholar memory?
White water rafting in Idaho with my fellow Notre Dame Stamps Scholars through Outward Bound. It was an incredible week filled with personal growth, leadership development, and community building.

What comes next?
I will be teaching 4th grade in California with the Alliance for Catholic Education!
